Job Description

Job Duties:  Inspect motorcoach for defects and safe operating conditions before, during, and after trips and submit a written report on the condition of the motorcoach at the end of each trip or tour of duty.

  • Assist with the boarding and discharge of passengers including the loading and unloading of luggage.
  • Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations including driver’s logs, records of fuel purchases, mileage records, and other records required by law and Fullington Trailways, LLC.
  • Maintain security of the motorcoach and the passengers up to and including addressing maintenance issues.
  • Recognizes issues that require maintenance on motorcoach.
    • Repairs non-major malfunctions and/or other issues.
  • Interface professionally with customers, hotels, accommodations, co-workers, and the general public.

Accountabilities: Proper boarding and discharge of passengers to assure safety and minimal risk of damage to luggage and danger to passengers while safely transporting from place of origin to destination.

  • Develop professional relationships between the company and the customers and community.
  • Professional representation of the company and the motorcoach industry through appropriate company required uniform and responsible driving.
  • Proper handling and accurate completion of all necessary paperwork related to motorcoach operations and passenger movement including responsible use of company monies.

 Job Specifications:  Eligibility requirements:  Must be able to obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License.

    • Class A or B with a Passenger Endorsement
    • Air Brake test for the removal of the air brake restriction.
  • Must be able to pass required background checks and DOT physical requirements.
  • Able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquires, and to make entries on reports and records.
  • Must be available to accommodate passenger movement and must be able to be away from home for extended periods of time.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit and remain alert while driving for an aggregate period of up to 10 hours.

  • Must be able to operate a vehicle with a shift/manual transmission and operate foot pedals.
  • Must be able to frequently load and unload luggage weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to open and close luggage doors, climb into and out of the vehicle, fuel vehicle and check engine oil and coolant levels.

Work Environment:  Driver may be subject to irregular work schedules, temperature and weather extremes, long trips, short notice of assignment of a trip, tight daily schedules, and delays en route and other stresses and fatigue related to driving a large commercial motor vehicle on crowded streets and highways in all kinds of weather including icy conditions.

  • Driver typically spends 50% of on-duty time in the motorcoach.  While driving, operators are exposed to noise and vibration levels which may be higher than those typically in passenger vehicles.
  • Drivers may spend 50% of time out-of-doors, exposed to potentially difficult environment conditions.
